These groups provide an opportunity for support from others who hold similar identities or life experiences. Participation is open and drop-in style, meaning members do not have to be current clients of the Student Counseling Center, and you may attend meetings as often or as seldom as you like. Support groups are open to all UTD students, and no group screening is required. Please note support groups are not the same as therapy groups in that they are more focused on building community and peer support guided by one of our therapists than in-depth therapeutic intervention.

Hosted on Microsoft Teams, we'll cut through the hype and the panic to look clearly at what generative AI tools do well in an academic context and where they reliably fall short. Faculty will leave with a realistic picture of the technology and three low-risk, low-effort ways to start experimenting in their own teaching this semester. Register for calendar invitation.

Process groups are focused on the exploration and open processing and discussion of participants. Process groups are led by one of our therapists and typically more open-ended and less structured around a specific lesson or topic for the day. Clients are required to complete a group screening to assess whether the group matches their needs and interest.

For process groups, if you are not a current or recent client, please make an appointment to get started and note your interest in group therapy. You’ll complete intake paperwork and have a 30-minute “IC” (individual consultation) with one of our therapists, and then get scheduled for a brief screening meeting with the group’s leader.

Wooyeol Choi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Seoul National University (SNU), Seoul, Korea. He received the B.S. degree in electronic engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Seoul National University.

From 2011 to 2018, he was with the Texas Analog Center of Excellence, The University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, TX, USA, first as a Research Associate and later as an Assistant Research Professor. From 2018 to 2023, he was an Assistant Professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK, USA. In 2023, he returned to Seoul National University, where he is currently an Associate Professor.

His research interests focus on the design and characterization of integrated circuits and systems spanning RF to terahertz frequencies. He has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Abstract:

This research, conducted in collaboration with Prof. Kenneth K. O at TxACE, The University of Texas at Dallas, targets a 405-GHz focal-plane-array radar system capable of 0.5° angular resolution and 1.5-cm depth resolution over a 45°×45° field of view. The array employs concurrent transceiver pixels (CTPs) fabricated in a 22-nm FDSOI CMOS process, each integrating a push-push VCO, a subharmonic mixer, an IF LNA, and an on-chip patch antenna within a λ/2 × λ/2 footprint at 405 GHz.

A central challenge in scaling CTP arrays is FMCW signal distribution across many pixels while maintaining wideband injection locking. This work introduces an H-shaped series-coupled standing-wave oscillator (H-SWO) as a synchronization backbone for 2×2-pixel subarray units. Unlike voltage-coupled SWO’s, the H-SWO uses current-based series coupling at the standing-wave nodes, enabling a wide locking range. A fabricated 405-GHz 2×2 CTP array achieves a 7.8-GHz injection-locking range (8.7× improvement over prior art), a peak EIRP of −3.3 dBm (11.7-dB higher than single pixel’s), and a minimum DSB noise figure of 30 dB at 221-mW DC power consumption.

Building on this subarray, a 4×6 CTP array prototype is investigated. The array employs a daisy-chain topology to reduce power consumption. Future work will integrate a large-scale focal-plane array through multi-chip tiling, together with the steerable reflectarray investigated under Prof. Kenneth K. O's research task, to realize low-power, wide-field-of-view imaging.

This unique training opportunity tailored to executives, board members and senior decision-makers focuses on what leaders need to know: how GRI aligns with other standards and frameworks, what the disclosures signal about business performance, where the risks and opportunities sit, and how GRI-based reporting can support better decisions and build strategic value in an increasingly complex regulatory and stakeholder landscape.

Open to all ages, this workshop will be led by two Pegasus Media Project teaching artists who will guide participants in the Museum's galleries to look closely at art, architecture, and light, and respond personally, and begin translating their experience of the artwork into short form video. The session blends art appreciation with practical instruction, offering attendees a creative framework that encourages attendees to explore film beyond the workshop, or at least leave the workshop with a renewed mindset towards content creation.

During the workshop, each participant will capture footage toward a 1-to-1.5-minute art appreciation video with final editing and completion encouraged in the days following the festival. Participants are welcome to use their own smartphones or personal cameras. Pegasus will provide approximately five cameras for those who would like to work with dedicated equipment.

The two facilitators will guide the group through framing, composition, and basic visual storytelling, helping attendees shape a piece that reflects their own response to the art. Completed videos will live on as a reflection of the Dallas Asian American Film Festival, the Crow Museum, and the Pegasus Media Project, extending the reach of the event well beyond the day.

This workshop is designed for anyone curious about filmmaking, visual storytelling, or content creation. No prior experience is required. Whether you're an aspiring filmmaker, student, artist, photographer, social media creator, or simply someone looking to see art through a new lens, you'll leave with some practical skills for engaging art through video production.

The Dallas Asian American Film Festival is a hyperlocal film festival showcasing Asian American filmmakers, with an emphasis on Asian Texan talent. Presented by The Bowdon Family Foundation, organized by the Dallas Asian American Art Collective and hosted in the Dallas Arts District.

Pegasus Media Project is a Dallas-based nonprofit expanding access to film and media arts through education, mentorship, and workforce development. By equipping underserved and emerging artists with technical skills, professional experience, and industry connections, Pegasus creates meaningful pathways into creative careers while fostering a more diverse and representative media landscape.

International Overdose Awareness Day(IOAD), observed annually on August 31st, is a campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind. 25 Years On. Still Needed. #iOAD2026

The event will be held on Monday, August 31st. It will take place from 1pm to 3pm in the CSR's office in SSB 4.500. Students will have the opportunity to create friendship bracelets, design affirmation cards, and enjoy light refreshments.

Join the Wineburgh Philatelic Research Library for “The Letter I Never Sent,” a reflective writing event inspired by the Postal Service for the Dead. https://www.postalserviceforthedead.com/

Participants are invited to write letters to someone who has passed away, sharing memories, unfinished thoughts, or words they wish they could say.

Writing materials and envelopes will be provided. Participants may keep their letter, or choose to send it to the Postal Service for the Dead, where it becomes part of a larger archive of remembrance. Each participant can indicate whether their letter may be read, archived anonymously, or remain private.

This program explores the emotional power of letter writing alongside the history and meaning of postal communication.

From the delicate bells of foxglove to the dark berries of deadly nightshade, these plants reveal a long history of experimentation, misidentification, and discovery. Detailed botanical illustrations highlight both the beauty and the danger of these plants. Presented during the fall, the exhibition draws on what might be called the plant world’s own spooky season, when familiar forms take on darker meanings and hidden risks come into focus.

The exhibition cases extend this theme beyond plants themselves. On view are 19th‑century books bound in vivid green covers now suspected to contain arsenic‑based pigments. Once fashionable and eye‑catching, these bindings represent another form of dangerous beauty, objects prized for their appearance, yet carrying risks that were poorly understood at the time.

Ingrid Gessner is Professor of English and American Studies at the University of Education Vorarlberg in Feldkirch, Austria. She serves as President of the European Association for American Studies (2024-2028) and as International Delegate of the Austrian Association for American Studies. Her interdisciplinary scholarship spans visual culture studies, gender studies, and cultural memory. She is the author of Yellow Fever Years: An Epidemiology of Nineteenth-Century Literature (2016), for which she received the Peter Lang Young Scholars Award, as well as The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Public Controversy (2000) and the award-winning From Sites of Memory to Cybersights: (Re)Framing Japanese American Experiences (2007). She has published widely on environmental and medical humanities as well as American studies pedagogy. In 2017, she and Erika Doss launched the digital humanities website Memorial Mapping: Transnational 9/11 Memorials.

About Arendt’s book:

The spring of 2026 marked the 75th anniversary of the publication of Hannah Arendt's “The Origins of Totalitarianism,” a work that continues to resonate as a foundational text in the study of totalitarian regimes. Dealing with the histories of antisemitism, imperialism, Stalinism, and National Socialism, the book itself looks back on an eventful history: initially celebrated as a groundbreaking contribution to the historiography of totalitarian regimes, it was defamed as an anti-communist piece of propaganda during the Cold War–not merely by Stalinists inside and outside the Socialist bloc, but also by a wide range of leftist activists in the West.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin Wall, “The Origins of Totalitarianism” experienced a remarkable resurgence in popularity, catapulting Arendt to a position of almost universal recognition across the political spectrum. From conservative thinkers to progressive liberals, many individuals across the ideological spectrum have acknowledged its enduring significance in shaping mid-20th-century intellectual thought. Following Donald Trump's election as 45th President of the United States in 2016, the book experienced a resurgence in popularity among readers. However, the book’s examination of imperialism – particularly concerning Black African history – has also triggered substantial criticism.

This unique training opportunity tailored to executives, board members and senior decision-makers focuses on what leaders need to know: how GRI aligns with other standards and frameworks, what the disclosures signal about business performance, where the risks and opportunities sit, and how GRI-based reporting can support better decisions and build strategic value in an increasingly complex regulatory and stakeholder landscape.

This event will be held on Thursday, October 1st from 11:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. in the Activity Center Atrium. The Volunteer Expo is an opportunity for students to "window shop" for volunteering opportunities all over Dallas!

Volunteering not only allows you to help others and positively impact our community, it allows you to explore your interests and goals, as well as learn valuable job skills. Of course, volunteering also adds value to your resume, and it’s a great way to make friends and make connections.

Volunteer opportunities exist on campus and in the community in a wide variety of areas, be it with sports and recreation, museums, after-school programming, and the environment. You could also work with children and youth, or volunteer with adults with disabilities or at an animal shelter and help these partners with their marketing efforts or operations. The possibilities are virtually endless.

From the delicate bells of foxglove to the dark berries of deadly nightshade, these plants reveal a long history of experimentation, misidentification, and discovery. Detailed botanical illustrations highlight both the beauty and the danger of these plants. Presented during the fall, the exhibition draws on what might be called the plant world’s own spooky season, when familiar forms take on darker meanings and hidden risks come into focus.

The exhibition cases extend this theme beyond plants themselves. On view are 19th‑century books bound in vivid green covers now suspected to contain arsenic‑based pigments. Once fashionable and eye‑catching, these bindings represent another form of dangerous beauty, objects prized for their appearance, yet carrying risks that were poorly understood at the time.

Dr. Michele Cohen is Curator for the Architect of the Capitol, Washington, D.C. She earned her B.A. in Art History and English Literature from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Ph.D. in Art History from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She founded and directed New York City’s Public Art for Public Schools program and has been a professor and public art consultant. Her publications include The Art Commission and Municipal Art Society Guide to Manhattan’s Outdoor Sculpture (1988), Public Art for Public Schools (2009), and chapters in The Decorated School: Essays on the Visual Culture of Schooling (2013), Theresa Bernstein: A Century in Art (2013), Teachable Monuments (2020), and John Wilson: Witnessing Humanity (2025).

In this interactive session, students will experience a live demonstration of an AI-powered university ecosystem and discover how real-world attacks—including prompt injection, memory poisoning, tool abuse, and multi-agent compromise—can impact autonomous AI systems. The session will then demonstrate practical runtime security controls that detect and stop these attacks in real time using enterprise security patterns.
