Sponsored by the Center for Asian Studies, the Dallas Go Club, one of the local chapters of the American Go Association, is hosting their 11th annual Go tournament at UT Dallas on Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16! The Go Tournament is open for regisration and is free for spectators.
The Go tournament features five rounds in a McMahon-style format. All games will be AGA-rated. The tournament is a traditional annual event that draws over 50 Go enthusiasts to compete from the south central area every year, marking it as the largest Go tournament in the state of Texas. The tournament highlights the diversity of Go community, with participants of all ages and skill levels coming together to have fun and practice intelligence through the board game. The 1st place will claim the title of 2025 Texas State Champion with trophy and prize.
An ancient board game originating from China, Go is a complex mind game that can help people to practice their capability of logic thinking and strategy making. After the famous AlphaGo was developed by Google DeepMind Technologies, Go became very popular not only in Texas, but also all over the world. Many enthusiasts to play Go as a hobby in their leisure time. The Dallas Go Club is hosts their annual Go Tournament for Go enthusiasts to improve their skill, socialize with others, and promote the game to the community.
