Title: Galois groups for difference equations II: all the cases

Abstract: A technical but crucial result in the algebraic theory of linear difference (matrix) equations is that the matrix coefficient can be ``gauged into’’ a matrix in the Galois group (under relatively mild and strong assumptions on the base difference field). After recalling the basic set-up of Galois theory for difference equations, we will state and explain this fundamental result, both from a theoretical point of view and also regarding how to use it in practical computations. If time allows, we will explain how to overcome this difficulty for different fields that don’t quite, but *almost*, meet the requisite specifications.
