Successful organizational change requires much more than just a good plan. There must be a strong foundation of effective transformational leadership in place for change efforts to succeed. This session examines the necessary connections between leadership style and change efforts that create a “platform” for successful change. We will examine the attributes of transformational leaders that will enhance your prospects for being a successful change agent. We will have fun with some individual assessments that will help you better understand yourself as a change leader. We will also examine a validated model for leading change - the ADKAR model. We will explore each of the five elements of the ADKAR acronym from Awareness of the need for change, to the Desire to support the change, to the Knowledge of how to change, to the Ability to implement the new skills and behaviors, and finally, to Reinforcing actions necessary for change to stick.
Participants will take from this session an understanding that the platform for successful change includes both effective leadership and change process. You will take from the session two critical lessons. First, knowledge of the preferred leadership style for leading successful change and second, a process for change that will allow you to effectively lead change efforts.
