Free EventCHIMERA: A POSTHUMAN RECKONING
Written and directed by Dr. Maiza Hixson, performed by Acting III students.
CHIMERA is a one-act tragicomedy that explores the fate of humanity in an era defined by drought-induced wildfires and accelerating technological change. The play confronts the urgent realities of environmental instability as artificial intelligence evolves beyond human control.
At its core is a cyborg firefighter, a hauntingly human figure navigating the remnants of a burning world, tasked with rescuing humanity from expulsion from Earth. Straddling the line between machine and human, the character embodies the eerie tension of the “uncanny valley,” forcing audiences to confront the shifting boundaries of identity, survival, and progress.
