 man Research Institute at Baycrest -University of Toronto\n\nIn the last 2
 0 years\, a surge of research has aimed to find ways of mitigating age-rel
 ated cognitive decline\, showing healthy diet\, physical activity\, biling
 ualism\, volunteering\, mindfulness training\, "gamified" puzzle training\
 , and playing music can help older adults maintain physical and cognitive 
 fitness. Dr. Alain's talk examines the unique promise shown in playing mus
 ic. Behavioral and neuroimaging studies provide converging evidence that m
 usicians exhibit superior auditory and cognitive skills and cope better wi
 th age-related changes in hearing loss and cognition. The benefits of musi
 cal training on the aging auditory brain open exciting new avenues for dev
 eloping innovative remediation programs and improved rehabilitation protoc
 ols to sustain healthy aging and brain health.\n\nThe host is Yune Lee\, P
