Callier FLASH Seminar in Speech, Language and Hearing
Title: Electromagnetic Articulography (EMA): Recent Findings From the Speech Motor Lab
Speaker: William Katz, PhD
UT Dallas
William Katz is a leading researcher in the areas of clinical linguistics and speech science. He has helped develop a novel system for displaying real-time 3D images of the speech articulators and has used this system to study the pronunciation of language learners and individuals with communication disorders. Dr. Katz’s research has included characterizing the speech and language of children and adults, developing interventions for apraxia of speech; and understanding foreign accent syndrome. Dr. Katz has been recognized as a Callier Research Scholar and he has served as a member of several professional organizations, including the Acoustical Society of America, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the International Clinical Phonetics Association.
