"Build Belonging at Work by Fostering Employee Visibility”
Spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations are rethinking how to genuinely support diversity, equity, and inclusion. Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are increasingly important tools for fostering a sense of purpose and connection among organizations’ employees across industries.
At The University of Texas at Dallas, ERGs operate independently, but they require strategic and cultural support from management to succeed. Without an alignment, employees lose their shared sense of purpose, and the entire organization lags. Drum Café uses Interactive Group Drumming as a vehicle for encouraging unity and alignment.
Much like a musical ensemble, employees in an organization will find it challenging to create and connect without a tie that binds, or a guiding principle that keeps everyone aligned and focused. The goal of Drum Café is to inspire employees to invest more time, talent, and energy in what unites them to each other and UT Dallas.
