Psychology Lecture Series - In-Person and Virtual Event
Title - Mapping of the Human Brain
Speaker: Faisal Riaz Jahangiri, PhD
UT Dallas
Awake craniotomy with intraoperative neurophysiological mapping is an established procedure for patients undergoing surgery to resection tumors in the sensory, motor and language cortex area. It allows us to do continuous neurophysiological monitoring of the sensory, motor and language functions. Mapping of these eloquent areas of the brain provides a helpful tool to the operating surgeon in reducing the risks associated with tumor resection in the motor and language cortex. Dr. Jahangiri will present a literature review, neuroscience and the technical method utilized. He will discuss the usefulness of neurophysiological testing for evaluation of the language function during resection of cortical tumors, epilepsy foci, and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) located near language areas.
This talk is in-person in JO 4.306 and also is a virtual event. At 2:30pm on November 29, join the talk on MS Teams.
