Global Insights: J-1 Scholar Lecture Series
Join us as we explore U.S. culture and business. Global Insights sessions meet J-1 scholar cultural exchange requirements.
Description
Whether you are a graduate business student or a student pursuing an advanced degree in science or engineering, your future success will be dependent upon your ability to transverse a constantly evolving career landscape. The idea of earning a degree and sliding into a steady profession has changed dramatically because of the pandemic. Technical tools, scientific methods and core business knowledge won’t be enough to tackle the challenges that tomorrow’s employers will expect their employees to tackle. Typical soft-skills characteristics such as self-discipline and time management will still matter, but being scrappy, demonstrating grit, being present and listening are just a few of the qualities that today’s graduate students will need to advance their futures. Most graduate programs don’t teach non-traditional skills and most students have no clue about the hidden characteristics they need to launch a successful future. During this session, we will explore why traditional success characteristics are not all that is needed by today’s graduate students and how “other” typically unknown qualities will be essential for long-term career success.
