Global Insights: J-1 Scholar Lecture Series
Join us as we explore U.S. culture and business. Global Insights sessions meet J-1 scholar cultural exchange requirements.
Innovation can take many forms and isn't about waiting for inspiration, luck or scientific breakthroughs, it's about a process where teams and individuals can consistently deliver new and valuable solutions to existing and emerging problems. Innovation is increasingly being pursued by more than just startup companies - government agencies, non-profits, and the largest corporations are looking for people with the "entrepreneurial mindset" to help them solve complex problems, stay ahead of the competition, and take advantage of new advances in technology or business models. Paul Nichols has been a venture capitalist, startup co-founder and CEO, helped chambers of commerce develop "reverse pitch" competitions, and has taught Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the undergraduate and graduate level at UT Dallas the past 4 years. He will present some fundamentals of innovation that everyone needs to understand, as well as some specific examples of how people and companies can create bold new approaches where others can only come up with incremental improvements.
