aces\n\nAbstract: We will report on a result within the holographic study o
f conformal geometry initiated by Fefferman and Graham:\n\nIn 1999 Graham a
nd Witten showed that one can define a notion of renormalized area for prop
erly embedded minimal submanifolds of PoincarĂ©-Einstein spaces. For even-di
mensional submanifolds\, this quantity is a global invariant of the embedde
d submanifold. In 2008 Alexakis and Mazzeo wrote a paper on this quantity f
or surfaces in a 3-dimensional PE manifold\, getting an explicit formula an
d studying its functional properties. We will look at a formula for the ren
ormalized area of a minimal hypersurface of a 5-dimensional PoincarĂ©-Einste
in space in terms of a Chern-Gauss-Bonnet formula. We will show how the int
egrand in the renormalized area formula can be realized as a conformal inte
gral hypersurface invariant.
