Join us online to commemorate the International Holocaust Remembrance Day with a special lecture by Professor James E. Young, one of the world’s leading scholars of Holocaust memory and memorialization. The talk will explore how societies remember the Holocaust, how commemorative days take shape, and what these acts of remembrance mean for the present. Professor Young is Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of English and Judaic Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the founding director of its Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies. He is internationally known for his work on Holocaust memorials, memory, and representation, and is the author of seminal books including Writing and Rewriting the Holocaust and The Texture of Memory.
