Photoworks 2023 represents a selection of creative work completed by advanced photography students from the University of Texas at Dallas, curated by faculty member Marilyn Waligore.
These students explore the potential of color and abstraction in photography, as the camera lens permits the transformation of the mundane. Images of nocturnal urban spaces, desolate landscapes, and empty environments provide a space of reflection for the viewer. Studies of human form serve as a point of departure for considering the potential of psychological states. These artists embrace design, and in some cases stage the scene for the camera, to frame a world that exists in the imagination and the artist’s mind.
Exhibiting artists include: Jocelyne De La Rosa, Adamaris Dominguez, Haskell Grayson Harper, Trenton Hartwright, Adriana Hernandez, Stephanie Khounlo, Neal Ma, Melissa Méndez Ulloa, Deidre Portilla, Rachel Reagan, Alexis Segura, Soumiyaa, Camila Szoke
