So What Is It You Do, Dear? Connecting with the Public about Research

Hybrid: FA 2.206 or over Teams

Registration: https://calendly.com/keithly/so-what-is-it-you-do-dear

The "curse of knowledge" is a cognitive bias in which we incorrectly assume that everyone knows as much as we do about a given topic. This curse, which impacts us no matter our field, makes talking to people about the impact of our work challenging. But the curse can be overcome. Learn to talk about your research in a way that keeps the general public engaged.  This session would be beneficial for anyone interested in the 3MT competition this spring.
