Virtual Event
The UTD Multicultural Center and Student Counseling Center would like to recognize the effects the death of Tyre Nichols, January 10, 2023, three days after being beaten by 5 Memphis Police Department officers. We offer condolences to his family, friends, and immediate community. We also wish to acknowledge the impact of this event and the additional distress felt by many following the release of the videotape of this tragic event. The Multicultural Center and the Student Counseling Center are here to offer a safe supportive space to begin processing the effects and assessing the needs of the UTD community. We will hold this Support & Processing Space for the students, staff, & faculty who have been impacted by this event and past devastating actions by police. The session will be co-facilitated by a professional staff member in the Multicultural Center and senior staff psychologist in the Student Counseling Center.
This space will be held on Microsoft Teams and registration is required. Register here: https://utd.link/TyreNicholsSpace
