Burnout typically describes overwhelmed adults in the workforce, and is defined as a “special type of job stress—a state of physical, emotional, or mental exhaustion combined with doubts about your competence and the value of your work.” However, burnout symptoms have been increasing over time and are now affecting younger generations prior to reaching the workforce. Understand the symptoms of burnout and how they are evolving over time. Learn how we can address these symptoms, individually and as a society, to combat the American culture of burnout.
